Pop Murray Field
Retaining Wall
Client: Borough of Dormont
Service: Civil Construction
Location: 1655 Dormont Ave, Pittsburgh PA
Project Overview
Cronin Enterprises’ Civil Division completed site improvements at Pop Murray Field for the Borough of Dormont, rehabilitating an active ballfield with structural, drainage, and hardscape upgrades. The project scope included existing feature removals, unclassified bulk excavation and site grading, import and placement of competent material, storm sewer piping and catch basin installation, reinforced segmental retaining wall installation with geogrid, approved block units, leveling pads, aggregate backfill, underdrains, and earth backfill, concrete pad installation for dugout placement, erosion and sedimentation controls, and full site restoration.
Working within an existing ballfield environment required careful sequencing to protect surrounding infrastructure while executing a technically layered scope. Our team successfully tied a new segmental block retaining wall into the existing wall system, improved overall site drainage through new storm sewer installations, and placed new concrete throughout the ballfield to deliver a more functional and durable facility for the Borough and its community.
Backed by experienced crews, modern equipment, and a safety-first culture, the project was delivered efficiently and in full compliance with all engineering and Borough requirements.
